How to Get Started Stock Trading
To get started, there are just several things you need:
1 – A computer
Trading stocks without a computer is like living in a cave. Sure, you could do it – But why would you want to?
Trading with a computer is much faster, easier, and more efficient than trading with a broker by phone.
Your computer should have a decent level of processing power and memory, so you can support stand-alone programs of the better online stock brokers. You should also have at least one internet connection.
2 – Choose a broker
Choose a broker you trust. Read online reviews and ask other traders what their experiences were.
Avoid all brokers that claim to provide 0% commission service. These brokers generally have terrible customer service that is limited to email only, and often sell your order flow to Market Makers, who use your order to make a profit at your expense.
3 – Educate yourself
The last step before starting your trading career is to educate yourself. Simply knowing how to read a chart isn’t enough: You should be able to pinpoint your entry and exit points, when you think a stock will rise or fall and why, and the answer to these questions should come naturally to you.
The most successful investors are the most educated investors. The investors who fail are generally investors who’re uneducated in stock trading, and are effectively gambling with their money.
